Great news! One Wales Energy – Un Ynni Cymru is now a commercial partner with Community Housing Cymru, the membership body for housing associations in Wales.
We’re keen to partner with housing associations to work towards changing the way energy supply works in Wales.
This could include increasing consumer engagement and exploring more innovative approaches to supply together, using new technology, local renewable generation and energy storage.
We welcome contact from organisations who like the idea of a mission-led Welsh energy supplier looking to innovate, to discuss ways of working together for mutual benefit.
We’re really pleased to welcome Alan Williams, who has joined us as a Non-Executive Director.
With a career of over 42 years in the energy sector, Alan has extensive experience of the energy supply industry, most recently as Commercial Development Director (Wales Enterprise) at SWALEC/SSE.
He’ll be using his valuable knowledge and skills to advise us on shaping our business growth strategy, developing external business partnerships and new channels to market and of course ensuring excellent corporate governance.
One Wales Energy-Un Ynni Cymru is on a mission to offer competitive prices, great service, cleaner energy and to do our bit to help local communities. To achieve this, we’re a mission-led enterprise.
Sounds great, but what does ‘mission-led’ really mean?
It means we’re committed to keeping social responsibility and service at our core whilst operating as a business. There are many well-known examples of mission-led businesses e.g. high street retailer Lush, which is a business committed to making natural, vegetarian, cruelty free products.
‘Mission-led’ is a pretty new category of business, the term was developed quite recently to recognise that a business can be profit driven and still make a powerful commitment to social impact (UK Government report in 2016 on mission-led business*)
We’ve summarised it neatly below!
For us, business and social impact will go hand-in-hand and we are excited about what we can achieve.
We’ll be posting regular news updates about our progress on our website and social media, so please follow onewalesenergy on Twitter and Facebook.
